Change anything, safely.
The panel is where you set up seats, screens, devices and sound. Changes apply as soon as you make them, with no restart, and the panel is built so a wrong move is easy to undo.
Open it from any seat
The panel opens on any seat, from the Start menu or the tray icon, and it works in a light or dark theme. No seat is special in it.
Who can change the setup
Two settings decide who can change the setup:
| Setting | Choices |
|---|---|
| Changes from | Any seat, or Seat 1 only. |
| Changes by | Windows administrators only, or everyone. |
On a seat or an account that may not change the setup, the panel opens as view only and says who can change it, for example View only · changes from Seat 1.
This is a way to keep the setup tidy, for example so a shared seat does not rearrange it by accident. It is not a security feature or parental control.
Hard to lock yourself out
- Keep these changes? If you move the keyboard or mouse you are using to another seat, the panel asks, and puts the device back by itself after 15 seconds if nobody answers. A seat that can no longer answer gets its input back.
- It refuses a move that would leave its own seat without a screen. The panel tells you why, so you cannot take away the screen you are looking at.
- Undo. A live change shows a notice with an Undo button.
- Template review. Loading a saved seat template never happens silently. A dialog lists every change first, and you choose whether to apply them.
Settings you change can ask Keep this change? in the same way, and revert if you do not answer.
Identify screens
Press Identify screens and a letter appears on every physical screen at once, whichever seat it belongs to. The same letters label the screen previews in the panel, so you can tell which monitor is which before you move it. Screens that no seat uses are named too.
